The Artstream certificate programme is a college transition programme meant to provide a pathway to an art and design degree. This programme is suited for candidates that have not passed AUArts’ academic and/or English competence standards for first-year undergraduate study but have a good art portfolio.
By completing Artstream, applicants will get a waiver for the diploma requirements and high-school course grades. However, this does not mean that they will get a high school degree.
The Artstream initiative offers the simultaneous distribution of:
- Linking specialised academic skills to post-secondary education;
- Specialized courses to supplement the Liberal Studies goals at AUArts; and
- Reduced studio and liberal arts course load at AUArts.
Students who complete the Artstream programme will get a certification from the Alberta University of the Arts. They will also be eligible for first-year study at the Alberta University of the Arts.
If English is not your first language or if you lack the English proficiency necessary for admittance to AUArts, successfully completing the Artstream Program will be regarded as the embodiment of at least 1 year of full-time study at a post-secondary university. This will fulfil the English proficiency requisite for AUArts admission.
